SUPPORT LOCAL
A market worth showing up for.
Scale House Market is a place to find food grown and made in our region, and a reason to get to know the people behind it. The indoor mercantile, seasonal outdoor market, and commercial learning kitchen bring different parts of local food life into one setting.
Friends of the Market carries that work forward through community giving. The campaign supports local food access, small farmers and food businesses, hands-on food education, pathways to jobs and entrepreneurship, and a more sustainable food system.
THE QUARRY STORYFrom an industrial site to a community place
The Quarry Campus has a working past: mining, asphalt and production, and the materials that helped build local roads. Spokane Conservation District purchased the property in 2017 and worked with the community on a new direction.
Scale House Market is part of that continuing story. The purpose is not to erase the site’s past, but to make room for new uses for local food, conservation, and community connection.

OUR STORY Built through relationships
Four Root’s connection with SCD grew through pandemic food-access work and the Four Roots owner’s internship with Vets on the Farm. A shared interest in the local food system developed into a permanent marketplace.
The partners still bring different capabilities. Four Roots operates Scale House Market. SCD owners the Quarry Campus. UCRCD assembled and administers funding behind the market. Supporting a shared project does not mean every organization does the same job.

-
Local food, closer to home
A regular place to discover regional growers and makers, explore their products, and make local shopping part of everyday life.
-
Room for small businesses
A setting where food entrepreneurs can meet new customers and connect with other people doing the work.
-
Learning around the table
A commercial learning kitchen and food education connect what people buy with how food is prepared and where it comes from.
COMMUNITY INVESTMENTTurning support into a community place
UCRCD helped assemble and administer the funding behind Scale House Market. The result is more than a place to shop: it’s a setting for local businesses, hands-on food education, and community gatherings.
Friends of the Market gives people a way to support that shared investment.
